Attention, Homeowners of Florida!!!

If you purchased a home last year (2008) and took up primary residency in that home before January 1 of 2009, then you qualified for the Florida Homestead Exemption.  Remember that last year, citizens of Florida voted for a change on Homestead Exemptions.  That change increased the exemption from $25,000 to $50,000.

To take full advantage of the exemption, homeowners needed to file with their local county property appraiser by today, as March 1st is the cutoff date for filing for the current 2009 tax year.

To learn more about the Florida Homestead Exemption, Save Our Homes, and other property exemptions, call or visit your local county property appraiser.  Or you can visit the Florida Department of Revenues website to get the exact details and language of these benefits.
